Parking and venue access

  • Parking will be at a premium today. If you can ride your bike or walk, that would be recommended to help ensure adequate parking for our FHC guests. The high school and middle school lots are open to the public, but will likely fill up early in the day.

Weather

Forecast: High 50°s 🌤️

For racing: Splash jackets, hats, leggings/long sleeved tech shirts, etc. Take waterproof layers into the boat until you're ready to head into the starting area.

Between races: Waterproof/windproof outer layer (rain coat, rain paints, boots) with warm layers underneath, hats/gloves.Students may race three times, and it is recommended to have multiple sets of dry gear, dry socks, etc.

Please make sure you dress for the colder weather.

Spectator information

  • Spectators are welcome to observe from John Collins Park. The race will come straight down Reeds Lake from the cove on the east side towards the boathouse. Viewing will be best from John Collins Park, the library rooftop (Wege Plaza) and Rose’s restaurant (if the patio is open, you may want to call Rose’s ahead to reserve outdoor tables.
  • Spectators are not allowed on the dock in front of the boathouse as we need to keep the shore area in John Collins Park between the restrooms and the boathouse clear for boat traffic.
  • The public restrooms in the park will be open.
  • The upstairs of the boathouse will be open to rowers and coaches for erg warm-ups, stretching and boat talks. The space will be closed to parents and other spectators.

– Please make sure rowers eat breakfast before they arrive and have a water bottle, hot beverage cup, snacks + a lunch packed. Coffee, hot chocolate and water will be provided throughout the day.

When you invite your friends and family to cheer on our rowers at the Battle of the Beltline, let them know they can also support the team by purchasing delicious donuts, coffee, or hot chocolate at the entrance to the boathouse.
