Spectator information

  • This is a typical fall race, which is a 5k time trial (staggered start).
  • As a reminder, parents are not permitted in the team areas (near the trailer, at the dock, by the boats or in the student section of the tents).
  • The following are recommended viewing areas:
  • Rivergate & Cleveland Rowing Foundation Boathouse – If you want the full regatta experience this is the place to be. Music & announcements will occur throughout the day. See crews launch, cross the finish line, & recover all from one location.
  • Hart Crane Park & Columbus Rd Bridge – Hart Crane Park is immediately beside Rivergate. The Columbus Rd Bridge is a great vantage point to watch crews as they power to the finish. The sharp curve in this area should also make this an interesting viewing spot.
  • Regatta Parking Lot at 1717 Columbus Rd – There is a long piece of riverfront property for viewing in this area. It is a short walk from here to the boathouse.
  • Carter Rd Bridge & Riverview Parking off of Canal Rd, just past Sherwin Williams (This is Coach Brian's personal favorite spot) – The Carter Rd Bridge gives you a chance to watch crews for a long period of time. You can watch from either side of the bridge. This is a short walk from the Columbus Rd parking lot. There is also another parking lot on Canal Rd, which offers good viewing.

Weather

• Partly Cloudy, low 35/high 50

• Please dress (and make sure your athletes dress) for the weather. It is looking like a high of 50 degrees on Saturday and although dry, a high chance of windchill that can raise the risk of hypothermia, so between races: Waterproof/windproof outer layer (rain coat, rain paints, boots) with warm layers underneath, hats/gloves.

• For racing: Splash jackets, sweatshirts, hats, leggings/tech shirts, unis. Take water proof layers into the boat until they're ready to head into the starting area. Students may race up to four times, and it is recommended to have multiple sets of dry gear, dry socks, etc.
