Crew 101: Staying Connected
One of the most important parts of being a Crew parent is knowing how information flows. Rowing has many moving parts: practices, regattas, equipment, and volunteer needs. Our system keeps you in the loop without overwhelm. You will use three main channels: the website, newsletters, and GroupMe.
Website
The EGRCrew.com website is the home base for the program. It includes schedules, regatta details, volunteer signups, Crew 101 guides, and team announcements. If you wonder where something lives, the website is the source of truth and kept up to date. Most emails and announcements link back to it.
Newsletters
You will receive newsletters by email throughout the season. These are the official written updates from the program and come in three forms. If you haven't received an email, subscribe by contacting communications@egrcrew.com.
- Weekly Newsletter – A recap of the week, a note from Coach Matt, and reminders for what is ahead.
- Regatta Newsletter – Sent before each race day with race times, travel instructions, parking maps, and what your rower needs to bring.
- Crew 101 Campaign – A separate series for new parents. It delivers short tips twice per week and links to Crew 101 pages so you can learn step by step.
All families are subscribed to the weekly and regatta newsletters. Novice parents are also enrolled in the Crew 101 campaign when they join.
GroupMe
GroupMe is our real-time communication app. All parents are added using the phone number provided at registration. If you are new to GroupMe, download the app to your phone or use the web. There is no need to search for groups—you will be added by our team. If you haven't been added yet, reach out to communications@egrcrew.com to join.
There are two main GroupMe spaces you will see:
- EGR Crew Group – Coaches and board members post official announcements here. Expect race day updates, lineup notifications, parking changes, weather alerts, and reminders about team events.
- Parent Lounge – A social space where parents talk with each other, ask questions, and share advice. It is a great place to learn from experienced families and support each other through the season.
Putting It All Together
- The website holds the full details.
- The newsletters provide the official written updates.
- The GroupMe chats give you the fastest updates and a way to connect with other parents.
Together, these three channels keep you informed and connected to the team.
