Culver Invitational

September 26, 2025

The Culver Invitational is an annual fall rowing regatta between Culver Academies and East Grand Rapids High School, bringing together two of the Midwest’s most competitive scholastic rowing programs. Hosted in a spirit of tradition and rivalry, the event showcases varsity and junior varsity crews racing across a crisp autumn course, with athletes pushing their limits in pursuit of school pride. More than just a competition, the Invitational is a celebration of teamwork, discipline, and endurance, drawing students, families, and alumni to cheer from the shoreline and mark the beginning of the scholastic rowing season with intensity and camaraderie.

Because of the small number of teams at this invitational, many families opt to drive down the same day of the regatta. We do not have a group rate at hotels in the area.

No Food Tent Today

Please make sure rowers eat breakfast before they arrive and have a waterbottle (or two if they want to leave one at the trailer), snacks and lunch packed (or have an order placed with the team for Jimmy John’s).

Spectator Info:

  • Spectators are welcome to observe along the Culver Academies’ shoreline, which extends along the northeast shore of Lake Maxinkuckee, parallel to the final 1500m of the course.
  • There are no public viewpoints of the first 2500m of the course.
  • Spectators are not allowed on the three docks in front of the Rowing Center.
